Brand new PS5 with brand new TLOU1 disc, "Unreadable disc". That is the only PS5 game I have, but it is the same with PS4 discs. And it looks like the stores used Black Friday to sell off their C chassis stock so trading it in for a new unit will be interesting...

PS5 disc will work only in PS5 disc systems, and it will have the PS5 copy of the game on the disc. PS4 disc will work on both the PS5 disc system and the PS4/Pro systems, but it’ll only have the PS4 version on-disc, so if you can’t download the PS5 patch (if available) on PS5, then it’ll just run the PS4 copy in back-compat mode.

A live service multiplayer game might not bother having much data on the disc because the game gets so many updates there's not much point as you have to download the latest version anyway. But for single player games in theory the disc should contain a playable version without the need to download updates.

Just did this and it appears to have worked. Tightened the screw until the disc was out just enough for me to pull out. Then put the PS5 back together, threw the disc in, and it was making that same sound. Ejected the disc and re-inserted and now the sound is gone.

2020年12月9日 · The PS5 will not accept a disc straight out of the box. We never even got the chance to install a game from disc. What really makes me angry (even though we have become complacent with faulty hardware from Sony Playstation) is the fact my 10yr old son saved his money for 2-3mo and purchased the PS5 all on his own.

Actually I figured it out. Cut off the ps5 and Disconnect all cords. Remove the disc drive completely from the ps5 then put it back on. Restart your ps5 and a screen will come up to activate your disc drive. Once you do that it will start working.

2021年5月6日 · I currently don’t have wifi/internet in general because Xfinity sucks. Ended up going to GameStop and bought Crisis Core for PS5. My PS5 was in offline mode and I went to insert the disc and legit my PS5 wouldn’t even read the disc. I’m not joking when I say it wouldn’t even eject the disc.

Because with PS4 doing away the backward compatibility, you'll need OG PS3(the one with 4 USB ports) and a PS5 Disc Edition to play every PS game out there. I believe PS5 has a virtual machine of some kind to run PS4 games. Otherwise, the PS4 mode would've been a big entry point.
