With Tessa this was never an issue. She would fret, wait by the door, be sad, but not destructive. This was when we first moved back to my parents house due to my health and the economy. After we were more settled, she would simply wait in our room, watch Tv and nap. It will be interesting to see how Miss Tiny Tina Pickles handles things.

My 10yo Maltese-Chi X hates it when I’m sad and will cross an ocean to hide under a strangers bed if I drop so much as a tear while he’s in the room.
